Mom's Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients:

2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 and 1/3 Tablespoons Butter
1/2 cup sugar
2/3 cup raisins
2 eggs
1/4 cup (approximately) buttermilk

1 egg for glazing

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.  Cut butter into dry ingredients.  Add sugar and stir
with fork.  Add raisins and stir.  Beat eggs into a measuring cup; add buttermilk to eggs until you have 3/4
cup of liquid (approximately 1/4 cup buttermilk).  Make a well in the flour mixture and pour liquid into
center.  Mix with a fork until all dry ingredients are moistened.  Roll into a circle with your hands and pat
down slightly to flatten until it's about 1-1/2 inches thick.  Place onto ungreased cake pan.  Cut an X on the
top of bread with a knife.  Beat another egg and glaze top.  Place in preheated 325 degree oven for 45
minutes to 1 hour (until tester comes out clean).
